Pastoral Letter June 14 2020

Dear Friend of Bridport United Church,Uploders Methodist Church or Hope and Radipole United Reformed Churches,

Our strange times continue unabated, albeit with a general slight lessening of the restrictions, whilst maintaining physical distancing.  I feel so used to that last bit that, strangely I find myself seeing an old film on TV and thinking “Golly they’re a bit close!”

This week it was announced that church buildings may potentially be opened for private prayer from next week.  I must admit that my instinct is to feel that most us in our traditions are more used to private prayer being carried out in our own space and using church buildings for joint worship and fellowship - things that most of us are missing painfully at the moment?  Thus I am not rushing to initiate access for prayer at the moment … unless I get a lot of feedback suggesting that there is a lot of demand?

Don’t forget last week’s request from Sue Herman for memoirs of lockdown for the next church magazine!  You can post them to the church address - BUC, East Street, Bridport, DT6 3LJ or email -

In the meantime, keep strong … and keep that private prayer going too!
