Pastoral Letter w/e: 7th August 2012

Dear Friend from Bridport United Church, Uploders Methodist Church or Hope & Radipole United Reformed Churches,

I have a bit of news for the Bridport and Uploders folk that of course our friends in Hope and Radipole already know but I don’t think I have shared here previously.
Some months back the Rev'd Neil Riches, a URC Minister currently serving in Wales, visited the Weymouth URCs, preached with a view to a call and has since been called by their joint Church Meetings to be their Minister there.  It is a half-time appointment but I have been in touch with Neil last week and he is keen to keep the relationship going that we have developed in recent years.
At the moment he is looking at arriving in post in October so we will not overlap but it is good that there will be representation from both of our denominations in the area (and into our churches) into the future.

Now, if you come to the service at Bridport United Church you will notice another slight change in arrangement as we edge back to something like the normal layout.  Gone are the alternate rows on the left hand side of church, although they are further apart front-to-back than normal.  We are still asking folk to keep a minimum of one chair distance from members of a different household and of course if possible to keep wearing your masks.  But isn't it lovely to be able to sing, even if still sitting?

Small steps but important ones!

So, here are your Sunday Worship Options:
  1. This week’s Live in-person 10:30am Sunday services will be a Family Service with Baptism, led by Rev'd Peter Clark at Bridport United Church.
  2. Video Services:  This is the service that most stretches our resources to produce so we are taking a break during August and re-commencing in September with monthly video services only.  However, if this is your preferred option we have this link, which offers a link to Wesley’s Chapel London.  They offer a livestream service at 9:45 and 11:00 every Sunday, but if you miss the live stream they leave a recorded version for you to watch later: www.youtube.com/channel/UCUAUqhmhevz5sqhh72LIMxA
  3. The Audio Service  from the United Reformed Church this week from the Daily Devotions Team is being led by Rev'd Jenny Mills, who currently serves in the role of Secretary for Education Learning for the United Reformed Church.  https://soundcloud.com/andy-braunston/urc-daily-devotions-sunday-worship-for-8th-august-the-revd-jenny-mills

Blessings from your Minister,

Rev'd Peter Clark
